What Minnah is

Minnah is an Islamic companion app built with React Native. It brings the things a practising Muslim uses every day into one app: the current prayer and prayer times, the Quran, duas, a digital tasbeeh counter, a Hijri calendar, bookmarks, wallpapers and settings, with a mosque finder and a zakat calculator alongside.

The interface uses green, Islamic-inspired header artwork and works in both light and dark mode, so it is comfortable to open at any hour, including before dawn for Fajr.

The Quran reader

The Quran section lists all 114 surahs with their English name, translation, ayah count and Arabic name, and has a search box for finding a surah quickly.

Opening a surah shows each verse in Arabic, with switches between Arabic only, Arabic with English, English and Bengali, a play-all button to listen through the verses, and per-verse buttons to play, copy and bookmark.

Working with third-party data

Minnah does not own its religious data. Prayer times, mosque locations and Quran text come from third-party APIs, so a large part of the work was integrating them reliably: handling slow or failed requests, formatting the responses for the screen and keeping the app responsive while it waits for data.
